The 2016 Fire Station is a multi-floor modular-style City building with a fire truck, helicopter, cherry picker, and 6 minifigures. At 919 pieces you're looking at several hours of deeply satisfying building. The interior detail โ bedroom, map wall, coffee machine, hot dog stand โ puts this in the same category as the modular buildings in terms of commitment to city storytelling. The build experience is rich and varied.
The revolving door entry is a standout technique โ a cylinder assembly using stacked ring plates that actually turns. The second-floor cantilever for the cherry picker garage door uses a technique worth borrowing for any garage/workshop MOC. This set is a study in how LEGO City packed real architecture into a non-modular chassis.
919 pieces yields a massive red, yellow, dark grey, and white haul. The transparent glass panels (fire station windows) are large and plentiful. 6 minifigures including a dog. The cherry picker element, helicopter rotor assembly, and modular building floor plates are all worth far more than their weight in a builder's collection.
One of the best City display sets from the 2010s decade. The multi-story profile with the helipad on top is immediately recognizable as a fire station โ it communicates its purpose at a glance. Currently appreciating on secondary market and looks the part on a shelf next to modular buildings. The revolving door is still impressive in person.
Original RRP was .99 and it retired in 2018. New sealed copies now sell for โ depending on condition. Used complete copies in the โ90 range are excellent value. If you find a complete used copy under MSRP buy it without hesitation. At OG retail it was exceptional value. Today it requires hunting but still worth it.
